hanging in the hall

I had Emerson up in the front hall this afternoon (trying to seek out the light since our house is a cave).  I was trying to get a picture of her smiling in the bumbo seat to compare to a picture from Harper at this age.  I guess it was a bit too late in the day for her to offer up killer smiles but she was still so cute.  And the big kids treat her so much differently when she is sitting upright, almost like she is a real kid.  Harper immediately set up shop and got the playing with Emerson.  Before I knew it they took over her attention so I gave up.

Harper was such a smiley happy baby with the biggest cheeks.

She started smiling once Brady came over.

This is Harper's way of playing these days.  She carries the strangest assortment of toys around with her from room to room.  She loves to lay out a blanket, napkin, burpcloth, etc. and set up her toys.  She fills a bag or backpack with this crap and it just cracks me up.  She will surely be on Hoarders Buried Alive at some point in the future.

I just love these kids.

Oh and a cell phone pic of Harper taking Emerson's picture.  So so cute.
Harper orchestrated a photo shoot and found a willing participant.

e-diddy

I don't have many outfits that fit Emerson at this point.  I don't want to spend money buying tiny little outfits for her when I know she will grow out of them so quickly.  So what she has is mostly hand me downs from Harper.  This little jump suit is velour and everytime she wears it I call her E-Diddy, you know like P-Diddy.  Makes me giggle every time.

On Sunday the big kids were out in the yard playing football while I was spray painting in the woods  so Emerson hung out in the driveway watching them.  She was just too cute not to go grab my camera.

Try not to be surprised but I found a picture of Harper in the outfit to compare, haha.  Harper was about 2 months here.

living room bowling

My kids don't really play with toys like typical kids do.  They play with the randomest things.  Brady will play with a shoelace for 4 days straight and Harper's idea of playing involves moving piles of crap from room to room.  Lately they have been pretty creative in their playing.  This night they made up a bowling game by lining up a bunch of characters and throwing foam baseballs at them.  They even had an enthusiastic audience watching intently.

See.... the enthusiastic audience member couldn't get enough of the game.

3 months old

3 months old.... just not possible.

The world's sweetest baby is growing up so fast.  I mean it, she is seriously the sweetest baby ever and we are all so in love with her.  I can't get enough of her and sometimes at the end of the day I will be sad thinking I didn't get to spend "enough" time paying close attention to just her.  I guess that's life with 3 kids.  During the week if Harper naps I lay on the couch snuggling with her and she usually sleeps in my arms.  My phone is full of pictures of her sleeping in my arms because I worry each day that its the last one ever and she will suddenly stop doing it and so I need photographic evidence.  But seriously, I spend so much time snuggling with her and loving on her because she is the grand finale and I want to soak in as much little tiny baby time as I can.

Ok enough with the sappy lovey stuff.  Did I mention how much I love this baby?!?

So for 3 month stats....  she is wearing size 1 diapers with plenty of space.  She is wearing all 0-3 month clothing and is no where near ready for anything bigger.  She is a total peanut and has the skinniest little chicken legs.  I would guess she is probably 11.5lbs.  She drinks 4 5 or 6 oz. bottles a day.  She has reflux so is taking Zantac to help.  Its not totally under control but is way better than it was.  Listening to her gag and choke all day long was so miserable.

She sleeps really really well.  She naps on and off most of the day still and when she is awake she is quite happy.  She goes to sleep at night around dinner time and we end up having to wake her when we are on our way to bed to feed her.  She sleeps through the night and just lays and talks to her self in the morning waiting for Jim to stop reading the paper and feed her.  He will say she is up a million times at night but that's not true.  She makes grunty noises in her sleeps and he doesn't sleep deep enough to not hear it.  So she wakes him up a bunch of times but she never cries or is even awake.  She sleeps on his side of the bed in the Rock N Play.  World's best baby.

She just found her hands and licks them constantly, haha, kinda like a lollipop.  She smiles so big but no real giggles yet.  She coos like crazy and loves to catch your eye to smile at you.  When she isn't happy she needs to be bounced and jiggled like crazy.  She really only cries when you missed her sleepy window and good luck with that.

Jim's input for the month:  She has been fantastic...  rarely cries, sleeps all night, doesn't wake up pissed, smiles every time she sees me and enjoyed watched Elf.

These pictures are not my favorites.  The upstairs is a hot mess with the kids bathroom being redone and her room being tarped off because of the construction.  So these pictures were taken in a hallway made of plastic sheets in the late afternoon with a baby who would have rather been napping.  Oh well, I got the pictures, I'll move on now.

And because I love a comparison here is Harper at 3 months. And here is Harper's 3 month picture post.

We snuck upstairs to take these pictures so the big kids didn't follow us up.  Except we got caught.  He really wanted in the pictures and kept photobombing but this is the face he makes??  Seriously??

And then the other one found us.  Just as excited.

shades and puzzles

The other day Harper was working on her puzzle (which is currently her most favorite thing to play) and she came to ask me where the sunglasses were.  I had no clue what she needed sunglasses for and she went on her way.  I went into the living room to find her doing her puzzle while wearing sunglasses.  Apparently we get one sliver of sun in the living room and she happened to be in exact spot.  (No really, we get no light in the back of the house and its downright depressing.)

Oh and 10 points if you can spot the Swiffer duster.  Apparently she took a break from doing puzzles to dust real quick.  Haha.

Those other sunglasses kept slipping so she hunted down another pair.

one smart baby

Sweet baby Emerson knows a good thing when she sees it.  She laid there watching the fire today for a while, totally memorized.  I love that sweet baby.

And on a side note that I noticed once I was sitting there just watching her.  I love how her little legs are still totally bowed in and she brings them up to her body to get comfy.

And on the topic of the world's sweetest baby....  here she is snoozing yesterday afternoon.  The light was just too perfect not to grab my camera.
