brady's birthday bowl

Last year after Brady's birthday passed he informed me that the next year he wanted a "real birthday party and a dinner with my grandparents is not a party".  No offense to his grandparents, but he wanted a friend party.  So in the months leading up to his birthday this year we started talking about what he wanted to do.  I offered to take him to a few venues or he could have a party at home.  He was a boy who knew exactly what he wanted from the start.  He told me he wanted a party at home and knew that he wanted it to be half boys and half girls.  We considered a Survivor party but figured most kids don't watch that show.  We came up with the idea of having a flag football party and it turned out PERFECT!!

So a few highlights:
~I decided to do a snacks only party.  Kids don't eat real food at parties, well except my kids they always eat multiple pieces of pizza at a party.  So we did Gatorade and juice, soft pretzel tray, tons of candy, watermelon, and cupcakes.  I told the parents at pick up that the kids ate only sugar at this party.  Sorry, I'm not sorry!!
~I designed and ordered t-shirts for everyone with their names on the back and the #7 on each one to represent his 7th birthday.  They were an absolute hit and took the place of a goodie bag (even though I despise those and wouldn't have done that anyway).
~Jim planned a bunch of activities for the kids like a football warm up thing.  I don't know much about that stuff, like there was one of those ladder things that goes on the ground and the kids ran through those.  There was a 40 yard dash too, and a sweet girl won that.
~I went to Home Depot and asked the paint lady for a chalk type spray paint.  I told her I planned to spray paint a football field in my front yard and didn't want it to be permanent.  She gave me a can and insisted it was chalk and would wash out.  Nope, completely false that shit is still painted on our front lawn.  Hahaha.  At least its slowly growing out and should be gone by November at this rate.
~We borrowed a set of flag football belts so everyone had one.  We played girls against boys with my being the girl captain and Jim was the boy captain.  Jim made it so the boys didn't plow the girls over and THE GIRLS WON!!  It was so so so fun, minus the 94% humidity.
~ We played for a while, then ate snacks and sang, and then went back to playing more. 16 sweaty kids running around your yard is not for the faint of heart.  But we survived and everyone had a blast!!

This was the AFTER picture.  After the kids all went home, we earned those beers for sure!!
We survived having 16 kids here for a birthday party. So obviously the first thing we did was open beers. 🎉🍻🎂🎉

Emerson showing off her referee outfit I made.  It was a woman's tank top from Forever 21.  I cut the straps off the top and sewed some bias tape to make a neckline and threaded some elastic through there.  It turned out awesome and she was the cutest referred ever.

On Brady's actual birthday he went to school.  So imagine my surprise when this popped up as an alert on my phone.  I still don't know when he managed to set up this alert, haha.  I love how its spelled wrong and all.

I had asked him earlier in the week what he wanted for dinner on his birthday and without a hesitation he picked going out for pizza.  After pizza we walked over to Rita's to get water ice.

He really loves his baby.

the end of the football season for Brady

Brady played flag football this winter and he LOVED it!!  I wanted to post the few random cell phone pics I have from the season and a few videos.

Slatt Sunday - Jersey edition

Today we went to the Slatts to watch the Eagles games.  My husband packed up every electronic device and newspaper he could because he feels so comfortable there.  I am surprised he didn't pack a toothbrush and eyemask.

During half-time the boys went out in the yard to play their own football game.  Quite possibly the cutest thing ever.  It made up for the fact that the dads don't pay much attention to the kids during the actual game, but cute nonetheless.

So it was Ed, Caden, and Brady against Jim.  Ed would give Brady the "plays" and then Brady would ran wherever he felt like going.  Then he would back to Ed and say "what's the next play Ed?"

When the game was over Ed said they won 49-7 and Brady told everyone the score of the game.

The whole day I wanted to get a picture of the 4 kids wearing their #10 jerseys which is even better because its a Jackson jersey which is the baby's name.  So once the game was over we ran outside to take pictures of them.  I couldn't pick just a few pics so here they all are, sorry in advance.

Harper was OBSESSED with baby Jackson and once she spotted him she needed to touch his face, haha.

Since in that last one Caden and Harper were so close together we told Caden to kiss Harper, except he turns to Brady to try kissing him.  We all busted out laughing.

Haha, the wind gusted and Harper of course loved it.  Jackson had to close his eyes.  And the older two boys were just cute.

Group shot.  I wish Jim would have told me I was standing directly in front of him, I look like I was trying to be the center of attention.
