I'm shaving just like Daddy...

Wasn't that a song title??  I feel like I remember my mom singing it, but then again maybe she just made it up since she was constantly singing.  Anyway, Brady got this Buzz Shave Kit for Christmas.  Tonight we pulled it out and he was so excited.  You can't tell by the look on his face but I think its because he was so focused.  And I guess he has never seen Jim shave because he shaves before work and no one is up then.  So I sorta taught him to shave, not like I have ever shaved my face before since Jim was feeding Harper and putting her to bed.  He was so darn focused on doing it and stayed in the tub until it was chilly and his feet were super wrinkly.

It came with that cute little foam mirror.  At first I thought "this is so stupid, how is he going to shave and hold this at the same time."  So I gave him the mirror and razor while I opened the lid to the shaving cream and he is so freaking smart and knew to wet it and stick it to the wall.  Man, that kid is so much smarted than me!!

Rollin with Tasha

We laid low today, Miss Missy has a raspy voice that I am worried will turn into a cold.  This morning we played on the floor a ton and it paid off..... she finally rolled over!!!!!  Its about damn time.  She rolled form her belly to her back twice today so I am totally counting it.  And since its impossible not to compare, Brady did it at 5 weeks, she is probably like 13 or 14 weeks now.  She did it once this morning and when I told Jim he insisted I keep the camera with me throughout the day to hopefully catch it again and lucky me I caught it later on.

Here she is, I saw her getting ready to and I ran for the camera, whew I caught it:

While I was sitting with Harper, Brady was busy playing with his friends.  He spents almost the entire day playing with Tasha and Uniqua who are Backyardigans characters.  It was beyond awesome to watch him be so darn creative.  It went pretty far.... they all napped together, he packed a suitcase and went on an adventure, they played hide and seek, and he even got mad at Tasha.  He spent time disciplining Tasha because she was kicking.  How cool is this stage???  Here he is with his spotting scopes on an adventure with Tasha.

And here are two videos where you can here him talking about Tasha.

Then later on I decided to take some pictures of Harper.  I love to take her picture because she doesn't go anywhere and doesn't need bribes to take a picture.  It was fine for a while but then a few of her fan club members felt the need to get in the pictures.

Poor girl never gets to be the focus.  Then again she is crazy about him and loves any attention he pays her.

I love the Exersaucer!!

I am so glad the time has finally come for Harper to go in the exersaucer.  We have been trying it for a few minutes since last week but while Jim was gone I brought it upstairs so I could have another place to entertain her and him too.  Yes, Brady plays with it plenty.  Worth every penny!!  Here she is yesterday....

That little phone is her favorite part so far.

She will just stare and stare at the lights.

Look at the love she has for her big brother.  She loves when he comes close to her.

Friday Funnies

Now when he does something well he will run up to you and insist you "pound it Dad" or "pound it Mom!"

One day he was playing a pretend game where there were animals here and he was looking for them.  He says "did you hear that animal?" and I said "no what kind was it?"  he told me it was a Pygmy Marmoset. WTF.  No 2 year old should be talking about Pygmy Marmosets.  Damn that Diego for teaching my kid all about weird ass animals.  Haha!!  And for the record I have no idea what kind of animal that even is but I am sure Brady knows.

I was trying to put on his gloves one day and Jim was enjoying watching me because he knows how hard this task it.  Brady does nothing to help and standing there with his fingers smashing into just 1 or 2 finger holes.  So Jim was laughing at me but Brady being the narcissist he is thought we were laughing at him so he says "he is funny."  No dude, definitely not funny.

Each morning I stay in bed until Brady comes to get me.  Sometimes it 7:01 and sometimes its 8:24.  And no matter what time it is I am never fully prepared to hop right out like he wishes I would.  He will stand on my side of the bed yelling "Mommy wake up!  Get up Mommy!"  And I now have him trained so he will hand me my socks (which I inevitably kick off in the night) and my glasses.  He sounds so sweet saying "you want you glasses Mommy?"  Alright I guess I will drag myself from the bed and take you downstairs and turn on McQueen.

I don't think I have put this one on in a past installment of Friday Funnies but when he farts he sometimes grabs his butt and proclaims "I just butt farted" as loud as possible.  He enjoys doing this anywhere at anytime, mostly when we are out in public.  Luckily Jim and I have the maturity level of 2nd graders so we giggle right along side of him.

At the grocery store the other day I swiped my credit card and he says "super good job Mom."  The check out girls were hysterical.  And the next day we did playdoh and I needed to windex the table when we were done.  He was still sitting there when I did it so when I was done he says "great work Mom!"  Does this mean we are praising him too much??

One night while Jim was away I needed to buy myself like 10 minutes to take care of cleaning up a few things.  I gave him a sheet of stickers and a coloring book.  So when I was done I went to sit with him and see what he did.  Get this.... he put a sticker on the nose of every character in the book.  What would make him do this?  So funny and methodical.

We were driving to MA one day and I had the huge sunroof cover open.  I could see him back there using his "spotting scopes" which means he was squinting and covering up his eyes with his fingers.  I asked him what he was doing and he said "looking for the sneaky fox."  He spent the rest of the car trip seeing Swiper and yelling "there is that sneaky fox in the tree/cloud/top of building."  I love creativity.

Bye bye muffin top!!

I did it, I rejoined weight watchers this morning.  I went to get more information on the new points plus program.  Its the one Jennifer Hudson did that's getting her on the cover of every magazine these days (they said she lost 80lbs).  Not sure I like the new plan, but I am going to give it a shot.  I don't like change much so hopefully it becomes second nature very soon.  I was successful about this same time period after having Brady and I am sick of my muffin top, its not attractive.  They made all fruits and most veggies 0 points which is great but the values of other stuff went up.  A half of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich=7 points, holy shit!!  And a chipotle burrito bowl = 15 points, not too bad, but the chips alone are 15 points, yikes!!  Good thing you get those weekly points. So here goes nothing.

Catching up

Not sure where the hell I have been for the last week but I am thinking I have just been hanging low in my pajamas pretending my world isn't going to be rocked in the next few weeks.  I woke up yesterday and for a few minute actually forgot about the move and then when I remembered I could believe that it was actually happening, like it wasn't just a dream.

So here is the deal for anyone questioning or wondering what will happen.  Jim will go down at the end of January to start working in the Brooklyn office.  We will go with him after a week or two.  The company will put us up in an apartment for 4 months while they store our belongings.  We will get a furnished apartment so we will only bring along clothes, toys, etc.  For those 4 months I will pretend it is so fun living in a huge city and try to do as many fun things since we will be so close to the action.  After the 4 months is up we will move to either North Jersey or Long Island depending on a few things we can't control.  We will move into a house on a normal street and start a new normal life.  We are not living in Brooklyn once the 4 months of free living is over.  Its just not for us and we would rather have more space.  In the meantime our house will go on the market and if after 90 days it isnt sold the company will buy it from us.  There are also a bunch of other money perks I don't feel the need to mention.  We are very lucky the company treats us so well, I would never move in the economy.  So there it is, my life in a paragraph.  It should be pretty interesting how all this unfolds.  Jim is confident this is for the best..... I on the other hand am not.  Hopefully he is right.

And here are the last remaining pictures off my camera.  I have been in a picture taking slump recently.

Paging Dr. Brady
11-1-4-46.jpg

He got this Dr. kit for Christmas and has enjoyed "listening" to our hearts.  Sometimes our heart is beating in our thighs or on our heads.  He says "bump, bump."
11-1-4-49.jpg

I came across a few cars parked on the blinds the other day.  He told me Sally and McQueen were out for a drive.
11-1-4-53.jpg

And now I am glad I washed my blinds last weekend in preparation for the house going on the market.  I would never have posted these pictures prior to the washing, they were pretty dirty.
11-1-4-56.jpg

Pointing at something he was convinced he dropped down there.  I didn't see anything, hopefully he was just pretending.

This picture makes it look like he was going really fast.  Except he was sitting completely still just making weird faces.

Chillin on her brother's chair.  Zoe was protecting her from Brady taking the chair over.

3 months old

Is it possible to think "I can't believe she is already 3 months old" ..... "oh my, has it only been 3 months, I feel like she has been hanging out here forever!"  Its weird, people have said to me before that when the second kid came around they didn't remember just having one kid.  And the same thing when you have your first kid you can't remember how you possibly filled your day before kids.  Like seriously?  Did I just lay on the couch watching TV all weekend?  Ahhhh, I hope so and I hope it was fun because I rarely get to lay on the couch these days.

OK enough about the mental minds games I play..... onto Harper.

At 3 months old she weighs at least 12lbs and I wouldn't be surprised if she was closer to 13lbs.  She is a chunk and those cheeks just keep getting bigger, which I didn't think was possible. She has these leg rolls that make getting a diaper on difficult.  So cute!!  She is drinking 5oz. at a time and belches like a champ.  She is still no closer to sleeping through the night and its starting to take its toll on me (especially with Jim gone for the week).  We moved her to her crib last week and she falls asleep great and on her own but its the middle of the night that is awful.  She needs to be replugged almost every hour and I am just not patient enough to do that (Jim hops right up, but I drag myself out of bed).  She found her hands last week and can often be seen jamming her whole fist in her mouth.  She also giggled last Friday for the first time but hasn't done it since.  It was the sweetest girliest little giggle, I can't wait until she makes it a habit.  She tries to sit herself up when you sit her down on the couch or in your lap.  She is pretty nosey and likes to check out what is going on.  She still enjoys being worn and I have started wearing her in the Ergo and she love to look all around.  You can tell she is often starved for attention (hello.... second child!) so she will just stare at you and when you finally notice her she will smile real big.  She is in size 2 diapers now but still craps all the way up her back multiple times a week.  Most revolting thing ever!  She still fits in a few 0-3 month outfits but is mostly in 3-6 months now.  She still sleeps swaddled in the swing and will sleep for hours, I will be sad when she stops this wonderful habit.

Onto the photographic proof that she is in fact 3 months old..... and note that she is wearing 2 different outfits.  I tried this morning with the cute outfit with the hearts on the pants.  I got her set up and turn away to grab the camera and she ralphed all over the front of the pink cardigan.  Cardigan off.  Then I wanted to try later in the day to see if I could get better/different ones but right beforehand she projectile vomited all over me and her which required a full costume change for both of us.  It was ugly for sure.  So these pictures are all from today, just 2 different outfits.
